How to connect to IP address on network from Linux Mint?

I tried to search for this online before asking, simply I may not exist using the correct wordage so perhaps that is why I am non getting proficient results.

Anyway, I'm trying to access a FTP server share on my network. On Windows I can just practice \\192.168.1.five then Windows will show me the shared folder on there, merely on Linux I tried a few ways only I'1000 non able to figure it out. The FTP share is like shared similar a Windows folder or something I gauge, I'm non sure what you call it, but I know it has a FTP upload power

ftp://192.168.1.5 should do it in say Firefox, in fact I would exist surprised if you tin can't only type the plain IP.
To upload y'all may need something like filezilla from the software center.

FTP is a protocol so it shouldn't affair if the target is on a Windows host or whatsoever other.

You could bank check if your linux box can see the target machine.

Is there a way to access this from the GUI? (window director / file manager)

Having been on one linux forum or another for what seems like forever now I have some revelations:

you can enter the address directly in the address bar of the file managing director or yous can (in Nemo) become via file card -> connect with server -> select ftp as blazon.

The answer is simple... It's because Google's early on contest was AOL (which everybody hates) and Yahoo (which didn't work very well fifty-fifty if you knew how to use it).
